The Utah Office of Tourism recently brought the spirit of Utah to India through exclusive trade and media networking events in Mumbai and Delhi, strengthening long-term partnerships with Indian travel trade and media representatives.
The events drew over 70 leading travel trade partners and media members, reflecting India’s growing importance as a high-value long-haul market for Utah. Indian visitation to the state is projected to rise by around 10 per cent by 2030, while spending from India is expected to increase by nearly 28 per cent, driven by longer stays, higher-value travel, and deeper engagement with the destination. Utah currently ranks seventh among U.S. states visited by Indian travellers, highlighting both strong awareness and significant growth potential.
A highlight of the events was the Guided Glass Gardens – A Utah Landscape Terrarium Making Experience, where participants ‘built their own Utah,’ celebrating the state’s diverse landscapes. The hands-on activity reflected Utah’s emphasis on nature, creativity, sustainability, and wellness while fostering networking in a relaxed, immersive setting.
Commenting on the initiative, Tera Atwood, Global Markets Manager, Utah Office of Tourism said, “India is a priority market for Utah. Indian travellers are exploring more deeply and staying longer, seeking destinations that combine variety, adventure, and comfort. These events helped us showcase Utah’s diversity and year-round appeal while building meaningful connections with the Indian travel trade.”
Indian travellers are increasingly gravitating toward destinations offering scenic road trips, family-friendly experiences, and urban comforts within a single itinerary—all strengths of Utah. Winter travel, featuring world-class snow, ski resorts, and national parks, is also emerging as a key opportunity. Utah’s unique geography allows visitors to experience multiple climates and landscapes in a single trip, from alpine mountains to desert scenery.
Sustainability remains a core focus for Utah Tourism, encouraging travel beyond peak seasons, supporting local communities, and promoting guided, experience-led itineraries. Looking ahead to 2026, the Utah Office of Tourism aims to deepen trade partnerships, expand destination education, and support itinerary development that benefits travellers, trade partners, and local communities alike—further strengthening ties between India and Utah.
