Former Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson is set to join Air New Zealand’s board as a Director from September 24, subject to shareholder approval. The appointment marks Wilson’s return to a senior aviation role following his nearly four-year tenure at the helm of Air India.
Wilson joined Air India in 2022 after Tata Group took control of the airline and played a key role in its transformation and consolidation. During his tenure, he oversaw initiatives including fleet expansion, operational restructuring and the integration of Air India and Vistara. He stepped down as CEO in April 2026, having resigned ahead of the end of his contract.
A New Zealand national, Wilson brings more than three decades of experience in the aviation industry. Before joining Air India, he held several senior positions with Singapore Airlines and was the founding CEO of Scoot, the group’s low-cost carrier.
His appointment adds significant international airline experience to Air New Zealand’s board as the carrier navigates fleet and operational challenges. Wilson’s background in airline transformation, network development and large-scale integration is expected to complement the board’s existing expertise as Air New Zealand continues its long-term growth strategy.
