The FAITH Conclave 2026 began at Taj Palace, New Delhi, bringing together government representatives, global tourism experts and key industry stakeholders to discuss how tourism can play a greater role in India’s long term economic development. The two day conclave is centred on the theme ‘Incredible India: Invaluable Economics’.

In his inaugural address, Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasised that tourism should be viewed as a catalyst for nation building rather than merely a contributor to visitor numbers. He encouraged the industry to focus on enhancing visitor spending, extending the average duration of stay and creating meaningful travel experiences as the true indicators of success.

During the opening session, FAITH Vice Chairman Ajeet Bajaj outlined the federation’s long term vision of transforming India into a US$3 trillion tourism economy by 2047. The roadmap includes attracting 100 million international visitors and creating employment opportunities for nearly 200 million people across the country.

FAITH Chairman Puneet Chhatwal spoke about the industry’s resilience and stressed that India has significant untapped potential to strengthen inbound tourism. Echoing this optimism, Gloria Guevara Manzo, CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council, said India’s travel and tourism sector is expected to register 8.5 per cent growth in 2026, reaffirming its status as one of the fastest growing tourism markets globally.

The conclave also featured presentations from state tourism leaders. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh outlined the state’s Swarna Andhra Tourism Vision 2047, highlighting its focus on tourism investments and infrastructure development. Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona showcased the state’s community driven approach to conservation and underscored its growing potential as a destination for sustainable and adventure tourism.
